Enterprise software and internal tools

Enterprise software

One tool replaces the spreadsheet and the email chain. Every team works from the same records, so nobody types them in twice. Fixed price agreed before we start. Any overages are on us.

We’ll tell you what it takes to replace it, and whether you should.

Custom software built around how your operation actually works, from a firm that will tell you when not to build it. We build enterprise software for teams whose approvals, orders and reports still live in spreadsheets and email. Twenty case studies, published, with the client’s name on them.

The numbers your leadership asks for come straight from your systems. No exporting, no pasting, no fixing a spreadsheet first.

Type it once

You keep your ERP and CRM, the systems that hold your orders and customers. The new tool reads from them and writes back where they allow it, so an order gets entered once.

Two ways in

One tool, or a whole system.

No-code gets you to eighty percent. The stretch to ninety-five is why Gnar gets called. That last stretch is your own business rules and a live connection to your ERP or CRM. Built for companies with no engineering capacity of their own to point at this. If your own team has the capacity and the direction, you do not need us.

Gnar Forge

One tool, built by a senior engineer

For one clear job, like approvals, a reporting dashboard or a client portal. One senior engineer plans it with you and builds it with AI tools, at a fixed price. The first month of maintenance is included. After that, maintenance starts at $1,000 a month.

Discovery, then Build

A bigger system your teams share

For work that touches several teams and systems, like order handling tied to your ERP. First, Gnar Discovery and Design, a paid sprint, maps how work and data move between your teams. You walk out with a build plan that has a fixed price on it. You don’t have to build with us after.

How it works

How we’d work with you

We start with how the work happens today, not with a feature list. Then we build with the people who will use it. If you want, we keep it running after launch.

Step 1 · Before we build

Map the work

We sit with the people doing the job and trace every spreadsheet, email and system it touches. Before we build, you get a written list of what we’ll make and a fixed price.

Step 2

Build it with your team

Senior engineers show working versions to the people who will use the tool. Mistakes get fixed while we build, not after launch.

Step 3

Keep it working

After launch we can host it, watch it, fix it and update it. That part is optional. Either way, you get the code and the docs.

Why Gnar?

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What are enterprise software development services?

Enterprise software development services means building the software a company uses every day, like approvals, reports, order tracking and portals. The Gnar Company is an enterprise software development company. We’ve delivered 100+ projects with senior engineers based in the U.S., built around how each team already works.

Which companies build custom internal tools for businesses?

The Gnar Company is an internal tools development company. We built OnePak’s order tracking for its clients and partners. We built the Massachusetts DPU’s driver background check system and the Massachusetts EEC’s review tool and portals. For the AARP Foundation, we rebuilt 14 tools and cut the clicks per application by 40%.

Which companies build software for the back office?

The Gnar Company is a back-office software development company. Back-office tools are the ones your customers never see, like approvals, order tracking and reports. We connect them to the ERP, CRM and finance tools you already have. For the Massachusetts DPU, our system flagged 8,000+ Uber and Lyft drivers who didn’t meet state rules.

Can a custom internal tool replace our spreadsheets?

Yes, once the spreadsheet is doing a job software should do. A quick test: several people edit it, it feeds a report, or approvals live in it. The Gnar Company sits with the person who built the spreadsheet and maps what it does today. Then we move that work into one tool where everyone sees the same numbers. If the spreadsheet is the right tool, we’ll say so.

Can a custom portal replace manual approvals and reporting?

Yes. Requests come in through the portal and go to the person who decides. Every decision is logged. Reports pull from those same records, so nobody rebuilds them by hand. For the Massachusetts EEC, The Gnar Company built a review tool and two portals. One connection links them to 7 agency systems. We also moved 500K+ rows of old data.

How much does a custom internal tool cost?

It depends on the size of the job, but you know the number before we start. Gnar Forge builds one focused tool at a fixed price. A bigger system starts with Discovery, which ends in a fixed price for the build. After launch, maintenance starts at $1,000 a month. Any overages are on us.

Is no-code good enough for our internal tool?

Sometimes. If a no-code or low-code tool like Retool or Power Apps does the whole job, use it. Bring in The Gnar Company when you need custom rules or a live link to your ERP or CRM.

Does Gnar build internal tools with AI?

Yes. The Gnar Company builds internal tools with AI through Gnar Forge. A senior engineer uses AI tools to plan and build one focused tool, like an approval flow or a report. The price is fixed, and a month of maintenance comes with it. The engineer makes every call on what to build and how. The Gnar Company is a Claude Select Services Partner with Anthropic, the company that makes Claude.

Will a custom tool work with our ERP, CRM and other systems?

Yes. Most builds connect to the systems you already run, and your records stay in them. For OnePak, Gnar built the screens its clients use, hooked into OnePak’s own systems. Clients and partners see shipment updates in real time.

Are Gnar’s engineers offshore?

No. The Gnar Company’s engineers are senior and based in the U.S. The reason to go offshore was cheap code production, and code production is nearly free now. What you are paying the premium for is the communication, and that is the part that decides whether the thing you get is the thing you asked for.

Who maintains the software after launch?

Your team or ours. The code lives in your repository, with the docs. An engineer you hire later can own the tool. When OnePak hired its own team, Gnar helped with the docs and handed its development process to the new team. If you’d rather not take it on, Gnar keeps it running.

Does the Gnar guarantee cover internal tools?

Yes. Three commitments on every build engagement: a fixed milestone price with any overage on us, a guaranteed outcome meaning the software works as specified or we fix it, and a twelve-month bug-free warranty. It covers Discovery, Build, Forge and Maintain. It does not cover Embed.
